Why should you vote for me?

On a more serious note, I aspire to be someone for others to look up to, and I believe that that is what our Mx HOL should be. In terms of how I treat people around me as well as in terms of the work I do and the things I create, I hold myself to high standards. I hope that this is something other HOLers may find inspirational, especially where the  treatment of people around them is concerned, since I find that to be the most important of the aspects I named.

You will, I hope, see much that will make you consider voting for me on this page and in my other contributions to the Mx HOL Contest. But there are many traits important for someone wishing to be inspirational, and not all of them can be shown in this manner. Let me therefore name a few of those that I believe I possess, and that would make me worthy of being named Mx HOL.

Kindness

I genuinely enjoy helping others, making them feel better when they need cheering up or supporting them through tasks they find difficult. There is little that feels as rewarding as making someone happy, and often it takes so little: a smile, a kind word, help with some small task, or simply some good time spent together.

​

Patience

Patience is not only relevant in many of the crafts I do, but also in how you approach others. It is accepting that sometimes someone who was unkind to you may just have had a hard day and will turn out to be in a much better mood if you treat them in a positive manner anyway. It is knowing that those around you sometimes have flaws they cannot help, and accepting those even if they irritate you. And patience is also what it takes to teach: Not everyone is as fast a learner as many wish to be a teacher. I hold myself to be a very patient person, with those around me just as much as with my crafts.

A Sense of Humour

While my writing style may often seem a little stiff, this in no way means I lack a sense of humour. Seeing the funny side of things is a wonderful way to help both yourself and those around you through many a difficult situation, and I'm glad to be able to say that I can often cheer up my friends that way, and also make my own life far easier (and more fun). To probably no one's particular surprise, I am especially fond of clever language jokes.

The Wish to Help Others Grow

This, I believe, is one of the most important traits in someone that wishes to be a role model and an inspiration to others, as I believe Mx HOL should be. Wanting to help others grow will drive you to lead by good example, and it will make sure you are always there for those you can help rise. For my part, I especially do this by teaching others pretty much anything they are interested in being taught. This could be a language, a dance, historical facts, a craft or similar. Teaching others makes me happy in a way very few other things can.
